About Building Systems Design

Our history

BSD was founded in 1983 to develop commercial software for the Federal government, which we did for more than 15 years.

Some of our construction cost estimating software is still used by the Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Defense.
We have a longstanding partnership with the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), which majority owned BSD from 2010 to 2017.
CSI is an industry organization dedicated to advancing building information management and educating project teams to improve facility performance.

In 2017, forward-thinking industry experts Arol Wolford and Iain Melville joined BSD. Together with CEO Chris Anderson, the continued involvement of CSI, and an investment from RIB Group, BSD ushered in a new era of innovation.
